Luxe Hair Splurge: Ted Gibson Goodnite Replenish Hair Repair Serum

Spotted this $199.99 treatment on Folica. Expensive products are always intriguing. They make you think, "Well, it must work if it costs so much." or "What's in it that makes it cost so much?"

Well here is the info from Folica...
Ted Gibson Goodnite Replenish Hair Repair Serum is a concentrated treatment that addresses the needs of malnourished, depleted hair and unbalanced scalps. It works by affecting change at the surface cuticle, the inner cortex and the core medulla regions with penetrating moisturizers, proteins, vitamins and aroma-therapeutic essential oils and botanical extracts. This hair serum repairs your hair while you're sleeping.

Product Benefits: Replenishes, repairs, strengthens and moisturizes dry hair. Brings both oily and dry scalps back into balance with a concentrated delivery system. Absorbs immediately and does not transfer to bedding or clothing.

Directions: Before bed apply a full dropper directly to the scalp and on dry hair; massage and brush though to ends.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Orchis Maculata Flower Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Silk, Retinyl Palmitate, Fragrance (Parfum), Glycerin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Panthenol, Methylparaben, Dimethicone, Disodium Edta, aModimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Steartrimonum Chloride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Trideceth-12.

  1. I'd try a sample! Otherwise there's NO way I'm paying $200+ for any hair product.

  3. $200 no, you can make your own hair serum from carrier oils and essential oil at a health food store and you can get every oil suit for you less than $100 and its organic, you just helped your local health food store and you know exactly wants in your serum

  5. I'm not too sure what "orchis maculata flower extract" is, but with that as an exception, i've seen those same ingredients in hair products taht cost less than 10% of this! I can see the buyers guilt here, you convince yourself that this product really works because you spent so much money on it, and not necessarily because it does work!

  6. the ingredients are not impressive at all. i was expecting some extravagant, natural ingredients! sounds like garbage to me.

my $6.99 conditioner "replenishes, repairs, strengthens and moisturizes dry hair." and is it really possible to treat both oily and dry scalps with the same product? i'm skeptical. you always see hair products that cater specific scalp or hair types: oily, normal, dry and color treated. they all have different products. so i find this to be strange...

  7. I have to say: NO! I've have to have more confirmation this stuff works!

  8. What promises? It'd have to do a lot more than that in order for them to get MY money. Specifically: increase thickness, increase length, and/or loosen texture...and do these things without causing cancer to develop in my future children and grandchildren. Only then MIGHT I consider it.

  9. Heck no! Not for that tiny thing, i dont care what it claims to offer. Maybe if it was a gallon sized container, they straight tripping!

  10. I say get some castor oil and lavender extract, slap it together and you got this without all the preservatives. And no..not a buy..not remotely interested.

  11. Will it grow my hair, make it style itself, cook, massage my feet all at the same time? If the answer is no, then my answer is no!

  12. I actually tried this about 2 years ago when my hair was shedding like crazy and it was nothing to write home about. if you used too much it went white and stiff and generally didn't do anything at all. In my defense I was desperate, it was well reviewed somewhere and I had a gift card from Saks.
