Imagine that you walk into the salon, all you want is a blowout and a trim, so that is what you think you’re getting. But, oh no the stylist has something totally different in mind. What she has in mind is to CUT your hair. She cuts a big chunk of your hair and it falls over your shoulders. WHAT IN THE WORLD! THIS CAN’T BE REAL! You jump up and ask her, “What are you doing?” She responds, “You wanted me to cut it right?” You try to stay calm. While feeling the little fuzz left on your head, you state, “ No, I just wanted a trim!” while tears run down your face. You have been growing your hair out for so long and now in seconds a big chunk of your hair is gone. The stylist proceeds to look in her book and says, “Oh I think I got you mixed up with the other girl in my book." Well, this is my reality. I ended up sitting in the chair fuming because it was a few hours before my Birthday dinner. She assured me that she could camouflage it. I left the salon and my hair was just bouncing and beautiful, but I could not stop touching the spot where I was pretty close to bald. I felt ugly and I tensed up every time someone came close to my hair. Ever since then I refuse to go to a stylist to get my hair straightened or trimmed. The only problem is that when I try to straighten my hair myself, it is a frizzy Fraggle Rock mess.
i would go back to the salon and get my hair done. i was always taught not to watch the tv but to watch my stylist. don't read a magazine watch your stylist. ask her to show you how much she is cutting after the first cut.
ReplyDeleteomg! Something similar happened to me this summer when I combed my locs out. I wanted a mere shape-up- from a barber (what was I thinking?)! Options are limited in Baltimore, especially when it comes to natural stylists and I thought I could trust the barber. I had between 7-10" of hair on my head, and I walked out (actually more like stormed out shaking with tears rolling down my face) with a ceasar. Rather than apologize he made up all kinds of excuses for why he thought I wanted him to shave it all off (I never once used the word "shave").
ReplyDeleteBeware of scissor happy fingers!!!!!
get on youtube and learn how to trim your own hair at home. It's free and you can only blame yourself in the end whether it is good or bad. good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible. I'm sorry that happened to you, where are you in the regrowth process? Please tell me you didn't pay!!
ReplyDeleteWOW someones being a bitch!....
ReplyDeleteim really srry that happened to you, u handle it much better than i would have sweetheart... i hope you can find somewhere to get your hair done. i have the same issues when i try to striahghten my hair so i jus found new ways to style my curls & forget my straight days altogether
awe that is tragic. I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to manage to do my own hair either.. especially the back of it!
That was definitely a tragic moment. To lose hair you have been trying to grow out. Thank God its hair and can grow back. Next time you go to the salon make sure they have the right person. You wouldn't think you would have to but after that I would definitely make sure.
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks. Learn to trim your own hair and if you want to treat yourself to the salon make sure they know what they are supposed to be doing to your hair.
ReplyDeletethe earlier comment is RITE... dont watch the tv, watch the stylist.
ReplyDeletesome of it is our own fault...
