Have you ever have someone scream when they saw your hair? Well, that’s what happened to me. I was going to an older stylist, a friend of my mother, for the first time. She saw my hair and had an over the top reaction. She SCREAMED in front of a room full of people and proclaimed, “Lawd, Jesus, look at that hair! There is no way I could do a press and curl on your hair. You have too much hair! Naw chile, naw, I can’t do it. Look at this on top of your head!” I was shocked and embarrassed to say the least. I walked out and straight to my car.
Kinda the same story happened to me except that she did my hair but charged me extra because my hair was not relaxed, it was thick and full, but she told me after she did my hair that she would charged me extra I was so pissed but as I was an exchange student and did not know how to speak english very well at that time I let it go and paid her but of course I never came back.
ReplyDeleteThat stylist is wrong for that! I'm assuming that this stylist is black and KNOWS what a real thick head of natural hair is like, right?
ReplyDeleteI just do not understand that! This is very similar to the time I walked into a new black hair salon for the first time rocking a cute wash 'n go. I meet the lady who was supposed to do my hair and she says, "You want a relaxer, right?"
SEE YA! I think my Converse left skidmarks on the floors!
That happened to me when I was little. It's always the old stylists lol. Same situation for me. My hair was too thick and long and my hair loves to hold heat so she said she couldn't press my hair anymore and gave me to the new stylist to do. I've been with the new stylist for over 16 yrs now lol.
ReplyDeleteIm surprised she didnt sing an old negro spiritual asking the lord for some of you hair to go away. after years of hair abuse, they dont know what a head of healthy hair looks like. If it were up to some, perms would be given inutero
