Earlier this week I was shocked and awed into buying the MAC 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush for $38 at Dillard's. The makeup artist tried it out on my hand with a cream foundation and I couldn't resist. It's a short, round, flat-topped brush for the application of foundations, creams, emulsions, and select powder products. It's a blend of natural bristles and synthetic fibres. I've used it twice and each time it shed a fiber or two. That made me a little upset because it was forty freaking dollars. Besides that, it's really fun to use and it really does a good job of buffing and blending cream foundation quickly for a more natural/airbrushed look for a girl on the go. I don't like to spend more than five minutes on my makeup and usually just apply with my hands like moisturizer or sunscreen. The problem with that was I was wasting a lot of product and I think this brush could help. I do notice that I use a lot less foundation. Anyway, if you need to treat yourself this would be a good investment if you like cream foundation.
If anyone has a Cosmetics Company Store (I think that's what it's called) around them, check there for the MAC brush sets. They come out during the holidays each year. They're nice because you pay like $30 (give or take), but you get 4-5 brushes, either for face or eyes. Same brushes as those sold separately at MAC -- just with a shorter handle. And I agree about this duo fibre brush; it's so nice for liquid foundation when I use it every now and again.
ReplyDeleteThis brush is best for cream foundations it will take longer to buff and blend a liquid. There are brushes better suited for liquid application.
ReplyDeleteI agree Kai!
ReplyDeleteThe MAC brush 130 is great! My daughter(the MAC makeup arist..sorry! I'm a proud Mama!) brought it home for me! I've been using it for my foundation ever since!
I like this brush a lot. Its great for both cream & liquid foundation. @inspired I LIVE at CCO I get both full size (especially limited edition) brushes as well as the holiday sets.
ReplyDeletei've recently become a fan of cream foundation in the winter because my skin is dryer then. My skin gets oily in the summer, so I was wondering if you deal with that too? does your skin get oily in the summer and if so do you change up your makeup (for me I go from MAC studio tech to MAC studio fix). Just wondering if you have any advice for using creamy foundation in the summer without it acting crazy in the heat. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love that brush! I use it with my cream Bobbi Brown foundation.
ReplyDeletei recently started using cream foundation this winter and i love it because my skin is dryer now. but how do you manage cream foundation in the summer when it's hot? I worry that it will start to feel heavy on my face. do you find that to be the case?
