  1. I use Johnson's Baby Oil on my natural pressed hair. It makes it soooo soft!

  2. I don't know if this is secret but -- after wash, stretch hair first with Jane Carter's or Giovanni's Wrap & Set Lotion with hard rollers to bring shine and straighten out. (2) twist hair for those who can Bantu knot, that would be ideal, for those who cannot like me, I then roll my twists up again on hard rollers for style and uniform. I re-roll everynight with either Jane Carter or Lottobody. In the morning, If I want a loser curl pattern to the twists, I will roll with big flexi rods. It only takes an hour or so to loosen the curl, sometimes I do not. When you do finally unravel for a twist out, you get a really nice look. (3) Sometimes, after I take out the rollers, I only unravel a few twists, here and there for more fullness and so in the evening, I only have a few twists to twist up again and (4) Argan or Moroccan oil, liquid gold for the hair.

  3. Miconazole Nitrate...

I did my BC back in August, my hair was 8f-10b inches in length(including 1.5 inches of new growth). Now in March I have all 10 inches even and my hair is thick, curly and soft.

The trick to MN is finding a brand with no mineral oil, applying it only to your scalp, and shampooing once a month or your hair will be waxy, dry and limp.

    Application: Apply like grease

Shampoo: Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Shampoo, Pantene NatureFusion

What I did: The first two months I had Carol's Daughter Hair Elixir and two tubes of MN. I'd co-wash with Black Vanilla for Carol's daughter, section and oil with CDHE, and let my hair air dry completely. Then I would go in with the MN. The reason I would let my hair dry is I didn't want the MN on my hair, the water would make it cling to stands.

I stopped just before October to check progress, 5 inches from 1.5 in just two months. I wanted to do a controlled experiment so I took off two months. Over the break my length crawled to 6 inches. I also did a Cassia application. My hair is already this funky red color, I just wanted to add some gleam.

In December I started back up, this time with Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter and used Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Condish. Same process, but I would "grease" my scalp with the butter. Since I wasn't using any oil, I would seal my ends with Castor oil, I wasn't aware that there are certain Castor oils you have to use because some food grades are drying. At the end of the of the two months I had my 10 inches but my ends were dry and brittle. So I cut 1 inch off.

This could have also come from the flat ironing when I checked my length, who knows. I do need to get a better iron. Though afterward my curls started to clump easily and more often.

My follicles must have been in a resting phase because I barely made it to 9.5 inches in the second week of February. I have been using EVOO for this break and I have seen improvement. Also I believe I have found the Holy Grail of conditioners- Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. This morning I did a wet measurement and my length is just about the 11 inch marker.

I don't think I will use MN anymore, but I have nothing negative to say about it. I have stopped simply because I am satisfied with my length.

  4. The eccentric hair secret that I have heard and use is substituting saran wraps for shower caps while conditioning. I was skeptical at first; it seemed like it wouldn't make difference and was too weird. But it works very well and keeps messiness low.

  5. I know people who swear by prenatal vitamins (the kind that they sell at a vitamin store) for shiny, fast growing hair.
