How Natural is Your Hair Regimen?

Disclaimer: this is purely for entertainment purposes.

On a scale of 1-10, how strict are you about being natural?

If you're a 10, you're a super duper strict natural. You only use hair products from the earth like herbs and oils, you are 100% chemical-free: no dyes, highlights or anything that doesn't come directly from the earth and you never ever use heat or straighten.

If you're a 1 on the scale, you're kind of an anti-natural. You're not natural at all: you relax your hair at the first sign of new growth, you use heat very frequently.... your hair must be straight at all times and you have no desire to ever go natural.

  1. I'm about a 5. My hair is free from chemicals, (Relaxer), but I'm not picky about my hair products. I've just started to read the ingredients, and co-washing, etc,. And, I'm thinking of highlighting my hair, just to do something different.

  2. 6.5 -7:) I'm relaxer free and my daily routine includes products that are 'natural' (hairveda + oyin + aubrey organics/trader joe) along with natural oils (castor, sweet almond and coconut). However there are occasions (deep conditions) where I use regular store bought stuff..(eg lustrasilk). I put myself lower b/c I am considering colouring my hair this summer! ;)

  3. Like @Fly I'm natural/ chemical free (no relaxer or color.) I don't use 100% natural products because they aren't very available. Literally. I've never been a huge fan of online shopping so I use what I can & when.

  8. a 10! I do use products that are natural because I'm one of those granola types and proud of it. I might even consider myself an 11 because I try to use vegan (no animal, insect) friendly products as well.

But, what about colouring with natural dyes like Henna or the boxes at Whole Foods? What does that count as? (even though I don't dye)

  9. hmm well i have been natural for eight months and the only product i've really tried is the jane carter solution. it was good but i used raw black castor oil before i ever had perms so i just went back to that and my hair has grown rapidly. then i started using raw shea butter so i alternate. oh yeah, i co-wash once a week with burts bees conditioner. that's all there really is to it. so i guess that makes me super duper natural? *shrugs*

  10. I'm an 8. I've only straightened my hair twice since I've been natural. Almost all of my products are natural (EVOO, coconut oil, shea butter) but I do use random conditioners and shine products with cones.

  11. I'm at 7-8. I've never straightened my hair in the over 2 years since I've been natural, use mostly natural or natural commercial products such as Qhemet Biologics and Aubrey Organics, though I do use cheap conditioners such as Trader Joe's Nourish Spa. I don't have a problem with non-natural products but it's hard to find products that don't contain silicones or mineral oil. I use henna on my hair, but no other chemicals.

I am such a 10 that I became a moderate vegan. I only eat eggs and no other meat. I am very proud of it. I have all kinds of oils, you can call me the oil girl, I mixed them up during pre-poo and after. I don't use any heat, I use shampoo 2x a month. I love moisture. The best mix moisturizer right now for me is shea butter and coconut oil. It works very well with my hair type. Makes my hair looks shiny and full.
