I love weaves. Weaves are the reason why I decided to go natural. After weaving my hair for 2 years I totally grew out my chin length relaxed hair and now my natural hair is a bit past my shoulders.
Weaves were both the culprit and the catalyst that led me to growing out my natural hair. Like anything and everything else its healthy in moderation. I finally found a great balance, and if you care to see your welcome to checkout my fotki(http://public.fotki.com/licklems83/)
I think if they are done right they can help women retain alot of length. The lady Reniece on youtube is a good example. Then there are ppl like my dear friend who wears weaves 6 months at a time... NEVER doing anyting to their hair. She doesnt wash it because she's scared and doesnt moisturize or oil hair scalp NOTHING. (Im trying to help her best I can! lol)
I have been wearing a weave since October 09. This has really help me with transitioning. As long as it is a sew in with human hair and I only keep it in for 4 weeks. This has really help protect my hair from breakage, heat, and pollution.
Not! Don't do it. I wear full lace wigs which allow me to maintain my natural healthy hair while still having that pressed, permed, fresh from the beauty salon look. I love them! I get all my wigs from here:
C: I no longer wear weaves (just my natural kinks or wigs) but I believe that C is a true statement.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear them anymore because I get bored with styles FAST and it doesn't offer me the flexibility that I need.
