On being natural... I've had a relaxer put in my hair only twice in my life and I regret it. I had to wait years for my hair to grow out and return back to its original texture. I used to always wear my hair natural and curly up until 8th grade when I started to get my hair pressed. I stopped straightening my hair as much in 11th grade of high school, when I decided to go for a completely fresh look and chop of all my hair in a short Halle Berry boy cut. My last relaxer was 3 years ago.
Hair care regimen... I wash my hair once a week, sometimes twice. I don't necessarily deep condition. I wet my hair daily, comb through it with a wide tooth comb at least three times a week, normally I comb through it with my fingers to avoid breakage. I use Dove's Advanced Color Care hair treatment conditioner (pink bottle) and instead of rinsing it out I leave it in through out the day. I also use Infusium 23 original formula leave-in conditioner. I fill a spray bottle with half of it and then fill the rest with water. To make my hair look shiny and silky at times I use a 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil, heat it in the microwave for 15 seconds and massage it through out my scalp deeply and throughout my hair making sure my ends are soaked. Then I pin up my hair and cover it with a shower cap. I let it sit for at least 30 minutes and wash it out. I do this every couple of weeks. I picked up this trick from my manager who mixes the olive oil with almond oil and does this treatment more often. Her hair always looks healthy and shiny. I go to the salon to get my hair trimmed every 3 months. I tend to trim my hair myself, usually when I've just washed my hair after wearing it straight. Any ends that seem straight and aren't curled when wet I trim (it's a good sign of heat damage). I wear my hair straight twice a month and I have not dyed my hair in 5 months.
Favorite hair products... I love Dove products. I use Dove Advanced Color Care shampoo and conditioner. I love Infusium 23. My mom has been using it in my hair for as long as I can remember. I also use So Gorgeous Volumizing Root Mousse for when I want my hair to look extra big and fierce.
On salons... I've been going to the same lady for my hair since I was 13. But I haven't gone to see her for my hair in about a year. I've been experimenting on my hair myself through trial and error.
Shopping for products... I buy my hair products at Target or Rite Aid. Favorite style... I Love to wet my hair, put conditioner in it and go. I just wear it out and free, let it air dry and see which way it wants to act for the day. I don't really try to control it, I let it do its own thing.
