Tip 5 No Cotton Towels

Hair can get caught in the fibers of some fabrics. I hate the idea of putting a towel near my head. I find them drying (duh) and harsh. There are some towels are the market that focus their marketing towards women with curly-hair, but I'm not interested in trying them because I find towel-drying to be unnecessary. I like my hair to be soaking wet when I'm setting. I usually just squeeze out the excess water in the shower and set my hair. While I'm setting my hair, I set in sections and the sections I'm not working on are clipped up in a plastic cap. Water getting all over the place isn't an issue for me. If anything, I put a towel on the floor so the water doesn't get everywhere.

I pretty much do a wash and go every day. I won't towel dry my hair, because it does mess with my curls, but i will wrap a towel around my head directly out of the shower so the excess dripping water can absorb. I walk around with this for about 10 minutes before removing the towel and adding some leave-in.

  2. Actually, I used to towel dry my hair until I started reading your blog! Once I stopped, I realized that the towel really wasn't necessary - my hair soaks up most of the excess water anyway!

No towels for me! I use a XL black cotton t-shirt to squeeze excess water out of my hair before styling. It drys my hair without snagging my coils or leaving (noticable) lint behind. I find that using it (and styling on damp /almost-dry hair) cuts down on air-drying time.
