Curls O' The Week: Lezlie Williams On Going Natural

Lezlie, in her own words...

I wore my hair long and relaxed most of my life, and always wondered what my natural hair looked like. It seemed crazy to me to go my entire life and not know what my natural hair was like. I could always feel these super curls forming every few weeks, so I stopped relaxing it for 3 months. I went to the salon, and had ALL of my relaxed hair buzzed off. My stylist kept asking me if I was sure because it was so long. But I looked at him and said if he didn’t do it, I would. He knew it was time. Since that day, I have worn it out and free for the most part.

  2. Her coils seem identical to mine. What hair type would she fall under?

    Thanks Ladies :)

I wasn't sure if my hair was 3c or 4a to be honest but have had a few stylists confirm its 3c. The pattern is corkscrew throughout. They determined based on the following breakdown-

    • Type 3c hair has tight curls in corkscrews

    • Circumference: Pencil or straw

    • The curls can be either kinky, or very tightly curled, with lots and lots of strands densely packed together

    • Getting this type of hair to blow dry straight is more challenging than for 3a or 3b, but it usually can be done

  5. Looks like Lezlie and I have the same curl pattern, but when I attempt to use Kinky Curly Knot Today and or the Kinky Curly Custard - they dry my hair out something terrible and it does not matter if I use them separate or together. I would love to some day be able to do a wash and go. Lezlie hair rocks!
