Questions About My Hair: Hairstyles

Some readers keep asking me about my typical hairstyles. I don't do anything super complicated. I'm not into overdone hairstyles. I like my hair to look effortless. I mention my go to hairstyles in My Staples 2010 post. I like a lot of messy buns and updos. I have no rhyme or reason to my styling methods and no two styles are alike. It's all very intuitive and organic and not technical at all. I usually place my hair how I want it with my hands and then bobby pin the heck out of it to keep it in place sometimes I use a hair tie so the updo is more like a bun. I get a lot of hair inspiration from straight hairstyles that I adapt to my curly hair. I'm not into braids or twists unless it's just one or two. I don't like tight styles, I usually do loose, easy low-tension updos. I experiment with updo placement: really high, low and mid/crown area. I also play with how I part my hair: sometimes it's down the middle or to either side. If your hair is short, you probably are skeptical and are thinking you can't do too many updos without using extra hair, but you can do pin curls and barrel curl updos. You can also play with the way you part your hair and different methods of roller setting to achieve different looks. If your hair is too short for that, then really play with hair accessories, earrings and step up your makeup game to diversify your look.

  2. You just flip your head to one side and clip it with those push combs sometimes I don't even need combs or clips. I just flip the front over to one side and pull the back over to that side. I'm not going to lie and say I'll do a video because most likely I won't. I do hate doing videos. You'd do better asking a YouTube hair girl to do it. You can just send her a link to these images. Most of them like video requests when they run out of ideas.
