Product of the Month Club

I have had this idea for awhile and I don't know that I will ever put it into action because I don't know if it will work, but here it is.

What if you could try products from all the popular curl-friendly brands like Kinky-Curly, Shea Moisture, Curls, Karen's Body Beautiful, Anita Grant, Blended Beauty, Jessicurl, etc. for a flat monthly rate? You'd get to try a 2-4 ounce trial size of a product. Each month you can choose 1-5 products based upon your level of memberships. For example, $5 per month would get one new product once a month and $25 a month would buy 5 products per month. You choose the products you want. Also, you'll be the first to try new products developed by participating brands before anyone else.

Why it makes sense?

We're constantly searching for the next best thing, we want to find that perfect product on our hair but we don't want to spend $25-35 purchase on something that may or may not work.

We love indie brands and want to support them, but also don't want to go broke.

Who doesn't love getting a surprise package every month full of fabulous hair stuffs?

It's a great gift for women that love hair products.

Samples are great, but sometimes it's just not enough to give the product a fair trail. These sizes would be enough to last a week or month and they will be in jars or bottles not in glorified ketchup packets.

For the sake of this post, I've set up some faux membership levels.
Level 1 costs $5 and you will get 1 trail size product of your choice per month.
Level 2 costs $10 and you will get 2 trial size products of your choice per month.
Level 3 costs $15 and you will get 3 trail size products of your choice per month.
Level 4 costs $20 and you will get 4 trail size products of your choice per month.
Level 5 costs $25 and you will get 5 trail size products of your choice per month.

Is this something you'd be into? Please participate in the poll below.

There are two polls embedded in this post, please logon to participate.

  1. right up my alley! i i'd like to be able to try the products in trials. it's like shoe dazzle for hair! i was working on something like this for a while. it's a lot of work, but it can work. the only problem is for many retailers it ends up costing more in production at times.

but who does not want to get packages of products per month? though i'm somewhat of a reformed pj so i guess i should be the last person wanting a package of hair products! :)

  2. Would it be for international subscriber as well? And if yes, would the price be the same. (I would be interested but I will wait for an answer before taking the survey, not to mess up the poll)

  3. Would you consider extending this to the naturalistas in Canada? We'd love to try things out too!

  5. This is a GREAT idea!! I'm always wanting to try new and I was happy to find trial sizes of Miss Jessies when I was visiting NYC but its hard to find trial sizes of other things. I'm for sure on board!!

  6. Sound like a good idea, but will the membership costs include shipping of the products?

  8. This is purely hypothetical. I have no plans to put this into action. It's just an idea I had that I wanted to share. So, for the sake of this poll... don't think about it too much. So, yes to international shipping. Let's pretend shipping is free.

  9. This is a really wonderful idea that has great potential. I hope no one steals this idea, before you get it up and running. Good luck.

  10. I hope someone does "steal" it. I have no intentions of actually following through. I was just curious to see how many of you would like it.

  11. A product of the month club sounds great! But isn't $5 for a sample kinda pricey?? For $5 I can actually buy a regular sized product.

    Just a thought...
