Live in the now, be present, be conscious is what I'm taking away from the book. Sometimes we get too caught up in the past and the future and we don't enjoy what we're doing now in this moment. Fell good right now, get happy right now. But, there's nothing to be happy about. Sure there is, learn to see the value, beauty in the simple things. Of course this is easier said than done, but the book goes into detail about how you can do this and there's also Eckhart Tolle 2-Pack: Entering the Now & The Realization of Being
Transcend your negative thoughts. We all have them unless you're Buddha himself or something. We get at least 60,000 thoughts per day and most of us have no control over our minds. When you feel yourself starting to "go there" or if you're having a moment, breathe and bring yourself back to the present. Think 'this moment is good', try to see the positive in every moment and become conscious. Do not let your negative self talk, sense of lack or any other negative thoughts enter your mind. This will take a lot of practice, but start trying it today.
I've realized dramatic changes in myself since reading the book, I just hope that I can stick with it and continue practicing. I definitely feel more at peace. It is transforming my life. I highly recommend it. It's helped me realize that the mind is something that we have to overcome. We think too much. If you put these teachings into action and practice gaining control over your thoughts, you will definitely feel more at peace. So, live now! Enjoy what you're doing right now in this moment, even if you really hate it... look for the positive.
I haven't read this book (though I now plan to), but I own a copy of A New Earth: Awakening to your Life's Purpose another book by Tolle, and it has been life changing!
